61st Frederick Police Academy Graduation

 

FREDERICK, MD – The Frederick Police Department is pleased to announce the graduation of the 61st police academy class on Friday, August 30, 2019, at 1 pm at the Weinberg Center for the Arts.  This event is open to the public.

The 61st Frederick Police Academy began on January 22, 2019, and encompassed over 1,200 hours of intense academic, physical, and practical training.  Training areas included:  Patrol Procedures and Law Enforcement Tactics, Firearms Training, Defense Tactics, Criminal Law, Crisis Intervention, Civil Rights, Vehicle Operations, Community Oriented Public Safety, Persons with Mental Health Disabilities, Cultural Diversity/Human Relations, and Procedural Justice.

The 61st Frederick Police Academy graduates consist of seven Student Officers from three (3) different agencies.

“Our graduates have demonstrated that they are ready to go forth and serve their community”, said Hargis. “The members of the 61st Academy Class have been given the knowledge and skills to handle whatever comes their way and are now ready to go out and make a difference in their community”.

Following the graduation ceremony, there will be a short reception at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in the lobby area.
