Heavy rainfall over the past few days exceeded the City of Frederick Wastewater Treatment Plant’s capacity, causing overflow of wastewater, Sept. 28, 2018.
The drinking water supply is not affected by this incident, and the City’s water supply is safe for all uses.
The overflow is occurring on the north side of the closed entrance to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The State of Maryland Department of the Environment and Health Department have been notified.
Signs have been posted cautioning the public to avoid the area.
