The deadline has been extended to apply to serve on the City’s new Youth Advisory Council, starting this fall. The City invites its 14- to 18-year-olds to apply through Sept. 28.
Aldermen unanimously voted to create the council to increase participation by young people in City decisions. The council will consist of 18 total members, 13 voting and five non-voting. City residents ages 14 to 18 will make up the voting members. The Youth Advisory Council’s primary goal is to expand involvement and gain insight from youth so their voices can be heard, and to address a concern about a lack of opportunities for emerging adults in the Frederick community.
