1986 Cult Classic “Top Gun” to Screen at Weinberg Center
FREDERICK, Md., Wednesday, June 14, 2017 — The 1986 military action/drama “Top Gun” will screen at the Weinberg Center for the Arts on Wednesday, June 28 at 7:30pm as the final film in the 2016-2017 Flying Dog Film Series. A pre-screening happy hour will begin in the lobby at 6:30pm.
As previously announced, the Frederick Arts Council will once again hold open auditions for a singer to perform the National Anthem at its annual Art in the Park event. Auditions will be held in advance of “Top Gun” at the Weinberg Center during the 6:30pm happy hour. Those who wish to audition should contact Gabriella at email@example.com to reserve a slot.
Tickets for “Top Gun” are $5-$7 with discounts available for students, military, and seniors. Tickets may be purchased online at WeinbergCenter.org, by calling the Box Office at 301.600.2828, or in person at 20 West Patrick St.
An Academy Award winner for Best Original Song, “Top Gun” stars Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards, and Tom Skerritt. Cruise plays Lieutenant Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, a young Naval aviator given the chance to train at the Navy’s Fighter Weapons School. The film is rated PG-13 and has a runtime of 110 minutes.
