The City of Frederick is currently seeking interested persons to fill vacancies on the following City Boards, the positions are volunteer. Historic Preservation Commission

The City of Frederick is currently seeking interested persons to fill vacancies on the Historic Preservation Commission. Interested individuals should send a cover letter and a current resume or email to Pam Stocksdale, Mayor’s Office manager, 101 N. Court St., Frederick, MD 21701, or email pstocksdale@cityoffrederick.com by 1 p.m. on September 30, 2019.The applicants must possess professional or academic training in such fields as history, architecture, architectural history, planning, archeology, anthropology, curation, conservation, landscape architecture, historic preservation, urban design or related disciplines. This requirement may be satisfied by, at a minimum, 2 years of experience as a professional or a bachelor's degree in one or more of the above listed fields. All applicants must possess a demonstrated special interest in historic preservation; this requirement may be satisfied for formal, professional or volunteer experience in historic preservation. The members will be appointed to a three-year term.

Sustainability

The Sustainability Committee is currently seeking city residents to fill an unexpired term on this committee.  The role of the Sustainability Committee is to lead and coordinate sustainability activities in the community to help the city establish and meet goals sets forth in the Sustainability Plan.  Interested individuals should be city residents.  Individuals who have experience in the green energy or transportation, food and nutrition, green building design or other sustainable practices are encouraged to apply.  Please send a letter of interest and recent resume to Pam Stocksdale, Office Manager, 101 N. Personnel Board

The Personnel Board may provide advice to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen on issues concerning personnel administration and may perform other duties concerning personnel administration as directed by the Mayor and the Board of Aldermen.  Members are appointed to a four year term, they must be a Maryland registered voter and must be either a City resident, own property in the City or operate a business in the City.  Please send a letter of interest and recent resume to Pam Stocksdale, Office Manager, 101 N. Board of Elections Supervisors

The City of Frederick is currently seeking interested persons to fill three vacancies on the Board of Election Supervisors. Board of Elections Supervisors - This vacancy must be filled by an individual who is a resident of the City of Frederick, a registered voter and who is NOT an elected official or a candidate for public office. The term of the appointment is four years.

Ethics Commission

The City of Frederick is currently seeking interested persons to fill a vacancy on the Ethics Commission. Ethics Commission - This vacancy must be filled by a an individual who is a resident of the City of Frederick, owns property in the City or be primarily employed by an entity having its principal place of business in the City. The term of the appointment is three years.

Planning Commission

The City of Frederick is currently seeking interested persons to serve on the Planning Commission in the Alternate position. The role of the Planning Commission is to make and approve a comprehensive plan and recommend the plan to the Board of Aldermen, exercise control over subdivisions with the City boundary, recommend zoning regulations, including an official zoning map and any amendments thereto; and submit annually to the Mayor a list of capital improvements the Planning Commission finds necessary or desirable to be constructed during the forthcoming four-year period.  The term of the volunteer appointment is five years.  Interested individuals should send a cover letter and resume or email to Pam Stocksdale, Mayor's Office Manager, 101 N. Public Art Commission

The City of Frederick is currently seeking interested persons to fill a vacancy on the Public Art Commission.  This vacancy must be filled by an individual who is either an art educator, art administrator and has expertise in the visual arts, art appreciation, art history, architecture, or a related field.  The member would be appointed to a three-year term.  Interested individuals should send a letter of interest and a recent resume to Pam Stocksdale at 101 N. Parks & Recreation Commission

The City of Frederick is currently seeking interested persons to serve on the Parks and Recreation Commission.  The member will be appointed to a three-year term.  Interested individuals should send a letter of interest and a recent resume to Pam Stocksdale, 101 N. Court Street, Frederick, MD  21701 or by email pstocksdale@cityoffrederick.com by 1PM on September 30, 2019.

Building Code of Appeals Board 

The City of Frederick is currently seeking interested persons to fill a vacancy on the following Building Code of Appeals Board. Interested individuals should send a letter of interest and a recent resume to Pam Stocksdale, Office Manager, 101 N. Court Street, Frederick, MD 21701 or email Pam Stocksdale  by 4:00 PM on September 30, 2019. 

This vacancy must be filled by an individual who is a registered architect, licensed in Maryland and who has been engaged in the business of contracting within The City of Frederick for at least 5 years. The Building Code Appeals Board meets as needed to hear disputes and appeals relating to the City's Building Code and certain other provisions of the City Code. The member will be appointed to a three-year term, and at the conclusion thereof will be eligible for reappointment.

Plumbing Board

This vacancy must be filled by an individual who is a Master Plumber who has been registered by the City and who has been engaged in the business of plumbing within The City of Frederick for at least 5 years. The Plumbing Board meets as needed to hear disputes relating to the City's Building Code and certain other provisions of the City Code. The member will be appointed to a three-year term, and at the conclusion thereof will be eligible for reappointment.

Neighborhood Advisory Council

The City of Frederick is seeking individuals interested in serving on their Neighborhood Advisory Councils as a volunteer coordinator. The term of each volunteer coordinator is 2 years. Volunteer coordinators must be a resident of the relevant NAC area. (View designated Neighborhood Advisory Council map (PDF)).

NAC Purpose

The Neighborhood Advisory Council (NAC) initiative was established to strengthen the City's neighborhoods and improve municipal services, based on the premise that the residential and business communities in a neighborhood are best suited to identify and solve issues in those communities.

NACs bring neighborhood issues and concerns to the attention of appropriate City staff, and elected officials and provide advice and feedback on City initiatives, proposals, and policies, as well as land development and other private proposals affecting neighborhoods.
