The City of Frederick is currently seeking interested persons to fill vacancies on the following City Boards, the positions are volunteer. Planning Commission

The City of Frederick is currently seeking interested persons to serve on the Planning Commission in the Alternate position. The role of the Planning Commission is to make and approve a comprehensive plan and recommend the plan to the Board of Aldermen, exercise control over subdivisions with the City boundary, recommend zoning regulations, including an official zoning map and any amendments thereto; and submit annually to the Mayor a list of capital improvements the Planning Commission finds necessary or desirable to be constructed during the forthcoming four-year period. Education Commission

The Education Commission is for the purpose of recognizing schools as an integral part of the community by enhancing and celebrating the positive impact of education with The City of Frederick.    Please see Ordinance NO: G-19-17 to view the entire ordinance.The Education Commission shall be comprised of at least 7 but no more than 9 voting members.  All members will be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Board of Aldermen.  Each member must be a resident of the City of Frederick. The term of a member is three years.  Initial members will have staggered terms.  The Mayor shall determine which member is to serve which term.  Members must have demonstrated a commitment to expanded educational and training opportunities beyond the standard educational curriculum and conventional classroom hours. Building Code of Appeals Board 

The City of Frederick is currently seeking interested persons to fill a vacancy on the following Building Code of Appeals Board. Interested individuals should send a letter of interest and a recent resume to Pam Stocksdale, Office Manager, 101 N. Court Street, Frederick, MD 21701 or email Pam Stocksdale  by 4:00 PM on September 30, 2019. 

This vacancy must be filled by an individual who is a registered architect, licensed in Maryland and who has been engaged in the business of contracting within The City of Frederick for at least 5 years. The Building Code Appeals Board meets as needed to hear disputes and appeals relating to the City's Building Code and certain other provisions of the City Code. The member will be appointed to a three-year term, and at the conclusion thereof will be eligible for reappointment.

Plumbing Board

This vacancy must be filled by an individual who is a Master Plumber who has been registered by the City and who has been engaged in the business of plumbing within The City of Frederick for at least 5 years. The Plumbing Board meets as needed to hear disputes relating to the City's Building Code and certain other provisions of the City Code. The member will be appointed to a three-year term, and at the conclusion thereof will be eligible for reappointment.

Neighborhood Advisory Council

The City of Frederick is seeking individuals interested in serving on their Neighborhood Advisory Councils as a volunteer coordinator. The term of each volunteer coordinator is 2 years. Volunteer coordinators must be a resident of the relevant NAC area. (View designated Neighborhood Advisory Council map (PDF)).

NAC Purpose

The Neighborhood Advisory Council (NAC) initiative was established to strengthen the City's neighborhoods and improve municipal services, based on the premise that the residential and business communities in a neighborhood are best suited to identify and solve issues in those communities.

NACs bring neighborhood issues and concerns to the attention of appropriate City staff, and elected officials and provide advice and feedback on City initiatives, proposals, and policies, as well as land development and other private proposals affecting neighborhoods.
